Bandelier National Monument is a protected canyon and cultural area near Los Alamos, New Mexico, west of the Rio Grande River. Spanning over 33,000 acres, this rugged canyon and mesa country holds clues to an ancient community that once resided and thrived here.
Explore petroglyphs, dwellings carved into the soft rock cliffs, and standing masonry walls. Or hike Frijoles Canyon or one of its adjacent canyons.
Bandelier is 41 miles (52 minutes) from Casa de Tres Lunas | House of Three Moons. During summer (May 16 - October 16 for 2019), access to Frijoles Canyon and the Visitor Center are by shuttle bus only.
